Mile 5

Duration: 02:00 (Approx.)

Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery combined with breathtaking vistas as we paddle eight kilometers through several mild whitewater rapids. This two hour round trip is a perfect fun introduction to white water rafting. ´╗┐Great for beginners´╗┐.

The Mile 5 trip is our most popular trip, for ages 5-95, and the one with the longest season, early May-late September. We meet in the the RV parking lot just outside of Jasper and transport you 8 km south of town to the put in point. After suiting up in clean dry wetsuits and a safety talk it is off to the river. The section begins with about a 10-minute float. This allows the paddler time to feel comfortable in the raft, experience the river environment and take in the 360-degree mountain view. After this short float the grade 2 rapids begin. Grade 2 is big enough to get everyone who wants to get wet, wet but it is highly unlikely anyone will go for an unexpected/unwanted swim. If you are brave enough, there are designated swim spots for a dip in glacial waters. After 4 or 5 sections of rapids the Miette River joins the Athabasca, high lighting the colour difference between a rain and snow fed river and a glacier fed river. The trip ends just around the corner at Old Fort Point. After getting out of your wet gear it is a short drive back to town.

All trips are in 6-8 person-guided rafts. We raft rain or shine.
